Hi everyone, much has happened in the last week, including heavy snowfall and even 4 lynx being dumped in Scotland. However, the snow hasn't detered action on the camera trap, and we have had plenty of amazing footage, including a new species! Let's see what we got...
Saturday
I put the camera out in the same spot as last post, and that night we got a little bit of fox action. They must have been after the food I put out.
Sunday morning the snow started to pour. The foxes also came back. I know it wasn't just one, because we got our third video of two foxes at the same time.
A few hours later, we got some amazing footage of a fox eating the food I left out. I've picked out the best videos.
The sun rose, and the first thing we got was one of many sheep. I am not going to put all the sheep videos on because we got loads, so this is probably the only one.
The next animal to pass by was our first daylight fox of 2025. It is some of my favourite fox footage we have had yet.
20 minutes later it (or another one) came back.
At 12:PM we also got a Jay. It came back at 2:PM.
Another fox passed by on Sunday night, but only very shortly.
A jay in the afternoon:
Tuesday
Sadly, this fox seemed to be limping. It is fox mating season, (as you could see the two foxes earlier were probably male and female) and it could have got in a scrap with another fox.
The snow came again, and we got another jay.
We also got our first new species of 2025. A flock of wintering redwings had flown over from either Scandinavia, other parts of northern mainland Europe, or Iceland. I have actually never even seen one before, so it was a nice suprise getting a flock of them on the camera. They are also quite nomadic, and won't usually return to the same spot every winter. We got better footage a few days later so don't worry if you can't see them very well.
Wednesday
The next day there was a crowd of birds in front of my camera. There were the blue and orange (very small, creeping around the floor) nuthatches, great tits and the redwings were back again. In this photo you can see the redwing right in front of the camera.
Thursday
It unexpectedly snowed heavily again on Thursday morning. We got more redwings, such as this one on the left.
Here is some more footage.
On Thursday, we got another daylight fox, but this time it was in the snow!
Blackbird:
That was everything we got this week. I know it has been a long post, so thanks for reading to the end.
We got loads of really cool stuff this week including the redwings, two foxes and the foxes at day. So if you enjoyed this post, remember to leave a comment and thanks for reading!
