Urban Foxes

About a week ago, I left the camera trap out in a friend's garden at their new house; mainly to see if there were any badgers in a burrow at the back. We got no badgers (which was a positive for once) but we did get lots of other wildlife. The garden backs onto some woods in the middle of the town, so quite a bit of wildlife came down. There was also a samll hole in the fence, and I thought that it could have been a fox. Where I usually put the camera out  we get loads of rural foxes, which are a bit cleaner and sometimes nicer looking than the urban foxes. Urban foxes are controversial, as they are increasing in numbers and are much more confident than the rural ones. I could write endless posts about rural and urban foxes but we will get into what we got instead. The first animal to pass through was a quick glimpse of a mouse. In the morning there was a juvinile robin and a woodpigeon.

There was also a dunnock (a little brown bird but we didn't get a great video of it). The next day a cat set the camera off.

There was also a songthrush that turned up. Other birds included was a blackbird and this robin that flew off almost staright after the video started:

Here's another mouse running past the camera:

It was early in the morning when the first fox turned up. You can tell compared to some of my other footage that it is a bit smaller than the rural ones.

In this video, something else appears  for a split second to the left on the other side of the fence. I think it is another fox.

Here's another clip.

Here is a blackbird in the day:

A squirrel and this songthrush also appeared.

A fox appeared again and disappeared through the hole in the fence.

Here's another songthrush:

That was everything that turned up. In total 6 species passed by this small corner of the garden. Hopefully you enjoyed this post as it was something a little different to usual. Next week we will be back in the usual blog woods again as it has been a while since we have put the trail camera out there (I bet the fox cubs have grown loads since we last recorded them).

Remember to leave a comment and thanks for reading.
